NEW Backpack Guidelines SY 2026-27
Beginning this school year, DMS students will be expected to keep backpacks and drawstring bags in their lockers during the instructional day. Students may carry a laptop sleeve or Chromebook case, a pencil case, a small fanny pack, or a small crossbody bag or purse.
Limiting backpacks in classrooms and hallways will help reduce clutter, improve student movement, support organization, and create a safer, more focused learning environment. We strongly encourage families to purchase a padded sleeve or protective case to help safeguard their child’s HCPSS-issued Chromebook. Thank you for your partnership and support as we prepare for a successful school year.
As a reminder, students may not carry tote bags during the instructional day in place of backpacks. We highly recommend that parents and guardians purchase a protective Chromebook cover with a strap or handle and a pocket for carrying small school supplies.
